Why NeuroIride
A platform born from clinical work with neurodivergent adults, to bring order to what individual questionnaires only see in fragments.
The problem we started from
ADHD, autism, specific learning disorders, tics and dyspraxia have been studied for decades as separate territories, each with its own instruments and its own specialists. In practice, especially in adults, these territories overlap all the time. A person assessed for attention may also have a particular sensory profile, a history of struggling with reading, a level of social masking that changes the way they answer every question.
The result, all too often, is a series of partial assessments carried out in different years. Each makes sense on its own; together they say little about the person.
The idea: a dimensional profile
NeuroIride gathers the questionnaires for the different neurodevelopmental areas in a single session, or in several linked sessions. Every score is placed on a 0 to 100 scale on which 50 corresponds to the instrument's threshold: below 40 the score is in the average range, between 40 and 60 it is in the watch zone, above 60 it is above threshold. In this way tests built on different scales become readable on the same polar chart.
The chart also shows what is missing. An area that has not been assessed breaks the line and stays empty: it never counts as zero, because the absence of data tells us nothing about the person.
What it does
It guides the clinician through administration, calculates the scores, suggests in-depth tests when a screening goes above threshold, and explains every result with a note for the professional and a plain-language text for feedback. It prepares a printable report signed by the responsible professional and makes it possible to compare different sessions for the same person.
What it does not do
It does not make diagnoses and does not replace the clinical interview. A questionnaire measures what a person reports at a given moment, with their tiredness, their mood, their filters. That is why, alongside the profile, the platform shows anxiety, mood and other contextual factors that can shift the scores, and flags when two instruments for the same area disagree.
The research
Many questionnaire thresholds were established on samples far removed from the Italian population, or do not exist at all. NeuroIride collects pseudonymised data which, with people's consent, will make it possible to describe score distributions in the population that comes forward for assessment and to propose calibrated thresholds. Each new threshold becomes a version of the instrument, decided by a professional and tracked. One caveat, stated from the outset: people who come forward for assessment do not represent the general population, and thresholds derived from this sample will tend to be higher than population thresholds.
Our principles
Dignity above all. Reading functioning in dimensions helps us see where a person needs support without erasing where they function well, and without romanticising neurodivergence. Suffering, disability and the need for help remain visible in the profile and in the report.
Privacy by design. Personal details are encrypted and kept separate from assessment data, researchers see only a code, and every access to identifying data is logged.
Where we are now
The platform is being piloted within Lifeology's programmes. Access is by invitation only and restricted to licensed professionals.
